I don't usually rely on baking mixes, but sometimes they are handy in a pinch. This recipe turns an oatmeal cookie mix into something spectacular, full of healthy sources of energy for your kids!
1-17.5 ounce package Oatmeal Cookie Mix
2 tsp. grated orange zest
2 T toasted sesame seeds
¼ cup wheat germ
1 stick butter, softened
1 egg
3 T water
½ cup diced walnuts
1 cup dried cranberries
Preheat oven to 375.
Place cookie mix in large bowl and add orange zest, sesame seeds and wheat germ. Stir to combine. Prepare cookie mix as directed using softened butter, egg, and 3 T water. Mix in walnuts and cranberries. Drop by tablespoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake 11-13 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool on baking sheet 1 minute, then remove and continue to cool on wire rack.
